New Zealand Pounamu Maori Nephrite Jade double swirl tribal symbol art statue

This is a piece of pounamu (The Maori word for the green Nephrite Jade found there) carved as a sacred symbol from the Maori culture.
 
The piece is carved with a flat base and has a double swirl, between the two swirls is a polished space that is very fine, hard to carve yet carved well.
 
The piece is a smooth, grey green with mottled colours running throughout and though smooth on the outside and smooth with colour there are different tones of colours rather than just an average green.
